Just a Phone Call Away
Gordon Hospital’s emergency medical service is just a phone call away with response times that surpass national averages. We have emergency response stations throughout Gordon County, and our skilled paramedics and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are trained to provide advanced life support care from the moment they arrive until you reach the hospital.
The Emergency Center
The Emergency Center at Gordon Hospital is staffed by full-time emergency physicians and specially certified nurses to provide the highest quality emergency medical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The center operates as a triage unit. Triage is a system of assessing each patient and assigning priorities of treatment based on urgency. That means that the most seriously ill or injured patients are cared for first; less urgent cases are then prioritized for treatment. When you arrive at the Emergency Center, a triage nurse will see you immediately. You should fully describe your condition and symptoms so that your condition can be assessed accurately. After you have seen the triage nurse, you will either be taken to a patient exam room or be asked to remain in the lobby area until an exam room is available. You will then be asked to complete the registration process. Because every minute counts in critical emergencies, Gordon Hospital offers bedside registration. Patients with the most serious conditions are automatically taken to a room after triage, where a representative from registration will complete the registration process.
Emergency Center Treatment
At the Gordon Hospital Emergency Center, patients are taken to a treatment room as quickly as possible. The emergency physician may order various tests to help determine the best course of care for you. If you have had tests, it takes time to gather the results and interpret them for your physician. Your patience is appreciated. Some Emergency Center patients may need to be transported to cardiac, pediatric, stroke, burn or Level I trauma center. Gordon Hospital’s ambulances or helipad are used to accommodate these extraordinary needs for ground or helicopter transport.
Our Commitment to You
Gordon Hospital is committed to ensuring that you and all our Emergency Center patients receive the highest quality of care. We know that emergencies are stressful, but you can rest assured that we are doing everything we can to provide the best health care for you or your loved one. It is our commitment to you, our patients, and the community we serve. It is our mission.
