Progressive Care & Clinical Decisions Unit

Focused on the Comforts of Home

When most people think of staying in the hospital they imagine a white-walled room, depressing environment, and minimal amenities. But that perception is a thing of the past thanks to Gordon Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Clinical Decisions Unit.

Unveiling the PCU

Complete with a high-speed wireless Internet connection in each room, the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) offers at an “at-home atmosphere” that promotes comfort and healing. Reminiscent of a nice hotel, the area hardly resembles the typical sterile white hospital environment. However, all the technology exists to care for extremely sick patients. The PCU is a step-down unit for patients moving from the intensive care unit but not quite ready for the general nursing unit. Housing a total of 12 large private rooms – each containing a specialized telemetry bed – every room is designed to make the patient’s stay a pleasant one.

Introducing the CDU

On the other side of the floor is the new clinical decisions unit (CDU). Here patients who are undergoing observation are closely monitored by an all-registered nurse (RN) staff so that appropriate clinical decisions can be made. In addition to being comfortable, the 12-bed CDU is highly functional. Behind beautiful cherry-wood cabinets in each room is high-tech monitoring equipment to make sure patients are in good health at all times. Because the purpose of an individual’s stay in the CDU is to allow clinicians time to watch over patients and make appropriate diagnosis before sending the patients home, having the best monitoring technology is vital.
