Women's Diagnostic Center
Too often women make their health the last priority on a seemingly endless list of responsibilities. At the Gordon Hospital Women’s Diagnostic Center, your health and your special needs are our number one priority.
A Center for Women of All Ages
Whether you are an expectant mother or the mother of a maturing daughter, a long-time patient who has delivered her children at Gordon Hospital or a newcomer to the area, our new Women’s Diagnostic Center has the resources you need to safeguard your health and prepare you for the future.
Created as a caring, for-women-only environment where you will feel comfortable addressing your most intimate health care needs, the center focuses on women’s health issues: breast health, bone density and all the other factors that come into play as a woman’s body goes through the changes of a lifetime.
Designed for You
From puberty to motherhood to menopause, women have specific health care needs. You also have emotional needs. You need privacy. You need to feel as if the health care professionals you rely on care for you and understand your sensibilities. You need to feel catered to. The Women’s Diagnostic Center does all these things and more.
The Latest Diagnostic Technology
Women’s diagnostics is the emphasis for the center. Our radiology capabilities are second to none. We utilize the latest imaging technology for all your diagnostic procedures —mammograms, bone density screening and stereotactic breast biopsy.
Our mammography system, for example, utilizes a computer-aided detection checker that reviews images and provides a “second read” to double check images for the radiologist. This helps reduce the number of false positives while also providing great accuracy in assessing any suspicious mass. Gordon Hospital is one of only a few hospitals in the area offering this technology.
This technology is important for every woman — especially those over the age of 40 or who have a family history of breast cancer for whom an annual mammogram is a necessity.
When a patient does have a suspicious mammogram or physical breast exam, the physician usually orders a safe, minimally invasive stereotactic breast biopsy in order to accurately diagnose breast abnormalities. The procedure takes less than an hour and requires no stitches. It also saves the patient a trip to the operating room for a traditional needle biopsy.
Expectations and New Life
For our mothers-to-be, the Women’s Diagnostic Center coordinates closely with the New Beginnings Maternity Center at Gordon Hospital to accommodate every aspect of your childbirth experience and provide you with ultrasound images of your baby as it develops. Like the Women’s Diagnostic Center, our 12 private labor and delivery suites are designed to make you feel at home — even a little pampered.
Up-to-the-Minute Training
Gordon Hospital technologists train continually to attain the advanced certifications needed to administer the latest diagnostic technology. The Mammography Unit has the highest accreditations attainable and is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These accreditations are reviewed regularly to ensure continuity in meeting requirements.
Pre-certification
We work with your physician to make your visit to our Women’s Diagnostic Center as fast and pleasant as possible. To do this, we have your doctor schedule your appointment and provide us with the clinical paperwork and insurance information we need to pre-certify you for the specific procedure. When you arrive, you can sit back and relax while we take the images your physician needs to help you.
Ask Your Physician
Your physician is familiar with the many resources of the Women’s Diagnostic Center. Whether you need a routine mammogram or have a health concern that requires other diagnostic technology, we’re here to help your physician identify any possible problem and then move forward with appropriate treatment.
