It’s two weeks into the New Year and if you’re already struggling to achieve your healthy eating or quit smoking resolutions, then Gordon Hospital has two free classes to help.
Eat healthier and eat smarter with Gordon Hospital’s “Food Fight” class.
“I’ll teach people about the benefits of eating breakfast daily and demonstrate quick and easy recipes that are low in fat and high in fiber,” said Judy Fehlenberg, registered dietitian at Gordon Hospital.
The class takes place at 7:00 p.m. on January 22 in Conference Room E. The class is free, but registration is required by calling 706-879-4732 ext. 3.
If you’re struggling with kicking the nicotine habit, then don’t miss Breathe Free. This class boasts a 94 percent success rate since 2006. Breathe Free is also free and focuses on four main strategies to aid in quitting - education about physical recovery, dietary changes, behavior modification and social support.
“We encourage participants to take a positive approach to beating nicotine addiction,” said Dave Smith, chaplain and health educator for Gordon Hospital. “We calculate how much money they will save, focus on how much better they will feel socially and emotionally, and consider the diseases they’ll avoid by quitting.”
Breathe Free begins on January 28 and includes nine sessions held over four weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information or to register, please call 706-879-4718.
