For his dedicated service and commitment to Gordon Hospital, Wesley Davenport was named Volunteer of the Year recently at Gordon Hospital.
Marsha McDaniel, auxiliary coordinator, presented Davenport with the award at the annual Gordon Hospital Auxiliary Banquet held on October 8.
“I am very pleased to present this award to Wesley,” McDaniel said. “We are always receiving compliments about his terrific service to our patients, visitors, and staff.”
Over the past year, Davenport has volunteered 619.75 hours. He has volunteered a total of 1,576.25 hours since he began volunteering nearly three years ago.
After McDaniel welcomed the volunteers and guests to the banquet, a prayer was offered by Judy Jackson, director of development of the Gordon Hospital Foundation. Following the dinner, provided by Red Door Cafe, entertainment was provided by soloist Faye Pierce.
Jackson expressed her appreciation to the volunteers prior to the award presentations.
“We are so grateful for all of the work that you do,” she said. “I am very pleased to report that our volunteers logged a total of 9,707.75 volunteer hours over the past year. That is the equivalent of four and a half full-time employees.”
