Visiting Hours

Visiting hours vary for each nursing unit, but generally the hospital is open to visitors from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Families and friends are encouraged to visit at appropriate times whenever possible. The number of visitors allowed is based on the patient’s condition. Visitors are expected to wear shoes and shirts. Children 12 years of age and under may visit when with a responsible adult.

Children should visit for only brief periods as they quickly become bored and restless. Children should not visit the hospital if they have any symptoms of illness or have been exposed to other children who are currently sick. Frequently, children are carriers of disease-spreading germs without appearing ill themselves. Visiting or socializing can be very tiring and stressful to people who are very ill. Being tired and stressed can prolong the recovery period.

The Intensive Care Unit has an open visitation policy but will be closed each day, 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., and again 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Visitors may be limited to immediate family only. Daytime visits should be 30-60 minutes and only two in the room at a time. Nighttime visits should be limited to 15 minutes and only 1 visitor at a time. This allows patients the adequate time to rest and heal. If any ICU patient is requiring emergency life saving care, procedure or special personal needs, visitors will not be allowed in. This is an inconvenience that cannot be avoided due to the nature of the care provided in this unit. You will be allowed to visit as soon as possible after the situation is resolved. An intercom is provided outside the ICU entrance for you to speak to the nurse if needed. Children under the age of 12 or anyone that has a known or suspected infection are not allowed in to visit. For health reasons no live plants or flowers are permitted. Please wash your hands before and after touching the patient to help us prevent the spread of diseases. Clergy of all faith are welcome at any time.
