Educators/Physician Liaisons Earn Extra Mile Award
Educators/Physician liaisons Jeana Handley and Andrea Rickett have been awarded Gordon Hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospital’s directors.
“I am blessed to have great Educators/Physician Liaison in the Clinical Informatics Department,” says Justina Carrick, director of the department. “We have been stretched these last few months with several projects that included weekend and night shift support, but they have kept smiles on their faces and taken all this hard work on with the Gordon Hospital mission in their hearts.”
Handley, RN, BSN, has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 11 years.
“This award is such a privilege to receive,” she says. “I enjoy what I do and being able to work with the people that I do. Andrea and I make a great team pulling a wealth of knowledge from our different resources and personalities.”
Handley earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Chattanooga State Community College in 1998 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of West Georgia in 2009. Currently, she is enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Southern Adventist University.
She is the proud mother of two boys, Gavin, 12, and Conner, 10. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, whether outdoor or indoor activities. She also enjoys quilting and running.
Rickett says she is also honored to receive the award along with her coworker.
“It means a lot to be appreciated for the job you do,” Rickett says. “I enjoy continuing to work alongside the physicians and staff, even though it is not in a clinical role.”
Rickett earned her RN degree from Dalton State College. She resides in Calhoun with her husband, Kevin, a deputy for the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, and their four children Joseph, Sam, Laney, and Owen. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her family.
