Registration is now open for the 5th Annual Run for Your Life 5K Race. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Gordon Central High School. All proceeds raised from this event will benefit services and facilities at the hospital.
“I look forward to this race every year,” says Jeni Hasselbrack, associate vice president of human resources. “People come from all over our region to participate, and we hope it continues to grow. We moved the race to the fall this year, but we plan to move it back to the spring next year.”
The 5K course will start at Gordon Central High School near Ashworth Middle School and end in front of Gordon Hospital. Runners and walkers of all ages and capabilities are invited to participate.
“We decided to change up the race course a bit,” says Hasselbrack. “As a hospital, we know how important physical fitness is in keeping ourselves and our families healthy, and we want to emphasis that. But it is also a great way to raise money for a wonderful cause, which will help all of our community for years to come. You don’t have to be a competitive runner either. You can walk, too.”
In addition to the 5K race for adults and students grades 6 and up, a CREATION Health Kids’ Fun Run 1K will take place at Gordon Central High School’s track beginning at 5 p.m.
“We wanted a fun race geared specifically for younger children,” said Denise Rustad, CREATION Health coordinator at Gordon Hospital. “Instilling healthy habits in children helps them continue to make healthy choices throughout their lives.”
