(Calhoun, Ga) — Greg Long, purchasing supervisor for Gordon Hospital’s materials management department, has been awarded the hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created recently by members of the hospital’s Employment Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It will be awarded monthly to a deserving employee selected by the hospital’s directors. Long is the first recipient.
“Greg is a person who will always step up to the plate and never ask questions,” said Pat Aaron, director of materials management. “His ability to bring people together to share a vision and inspire them to succeed shows that he travels many extra miles daily to accomplish meeting the needs of his customers.”
Long, who resides with his family in Sugar Valley, said he was humbled and surprised to win the award.
“I feel I was just doing what I’m expected to do,” he said. “I also have a lot of good people working around me that makes it all possible. Gordon Hospital is a wonderful place to work.”
Long has been employed by Gordon Hospital for three years. When he’s not going the extra mile at Gordon Hospital, Long said he enjoys racing, camping, fishing, and “anything outdoors.”
