(Calhoun, Ga) — Julie Harmon, a physical therapist for Gordon Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services department, has been awarded the hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employment Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to a deserving employee selected by the hospital’s directors.
“Julie is an exemplary employee who never fails to go the extra mile,” said Tom Peters, director of Gordon Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services. “She is an excellent clinician who has continued to pursue advanced training and is recognized as an outstanding lymphedema and wound care specialist.”
Harmon, an accomplished inpatient therapist who regularly receives accolades from grateful patients, has served as a clinical educational resource for physical therapy academic programs and serves as a volunteer in the community, Peters added.
“Julie also regularly offers to help whenever the need arises, often extending her hours or working on weekends,” he said. “She is unfailingly positive, always conscientious, and very dedicated to her patients, other staff, and the hospital mission.”
Harmon, who resides in Resaca with her husband, Vann, and two sons, Gabe, 10, and Cooper, 6, said she was honored to be recognized by Gordon Hospital’s directors.
“I feel like all employees here operate as a family unit and help each other whenever possible in the best interest of the patient,” she said. “I truly enjoy working at Gordon Hospital.”
Harmon holds a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Georgia and has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 11 years. When she’s not going the extra mile at Gordon Hospital, Harmon said she enjoys scrapbooking, reading, serving as an Awana leader at her church, and spending time with family and friends.
