Physicians added to Wall of Service
(Calhoun, Ga) — Gordon Hospital officials are pleased to announce the addition of five doctors to the recently created Wall of Service.
Joining Dr. Morris Jenkins, the first physician added to the prestigious wall in June, are Drs. Joe Bishop MD, J. Leroy Rabb MD, Tom Self MD, William Thompson MD, and the late Bill Purcell MD. Located in the hospital’s main corridor, the Wall of Service recognizes physicians who have dedicated 25 years or more to caring for their patients and community.
“This is a way for us to recognize that service and commitment to the community that they made,” said Carlene Jamerson, president and CEO at Gordon Hospital. “Their contributions have made Calhoun/Gordon County a healthy place to live, work, and play.”
All five doctors served Calhoun and Gordon County as family practitioners.
Dr. Bishop served from 1965 until 2004. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1963.
Dr. Purcell served from 1951 until 1998. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1950.
Dr. Rabb, a 1952 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, served from 1954 until 1996.
Dr. Self served from 1980 until 2006. He is a 1977 graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Dr. Thompson, a 1955 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, served from 1957 until 1998.
“Our physicians are second to none,” Jamerson added. “The quality, the caring, and the genuine interest that they extend to their patients on a daily basis is impressive. We are truly thankful for their service.”
