Sharon Bass, RN, BSN, CNOR, at Gordon Hospital has been awarded the hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to a deserving employee selected by the hospital’s directors.
“Sharon is very deserving of this award,” said Beth Crew, RN, BSN, director of surgical services for Gordon Hospital. “She is the most caring and compassionate person I’ve ever worked with. She genuinely cares about everybody.”
Crew added that Bass never takes a task lightly.
“Sharon always gives 100 percent to everything she does,” Crew said. “She devotes a lot of time and energy to all of her efforts.”
Bass, who serves as clinical coordinator for the hospital’s surgical services department, said she was very flattered to receive the honor.
“The people that should be honored are the people I work with,” she said. “I love working at Gordon Hospital and have always felt blessed that I was given the opportunity to work here.”
Bass received her Bachelor of Science degree from Berry College and a Master’s Degree in athletic administration. Ten years later she went back to school and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Florida State University. Bass has been employed by Gordon Hospital for 11 years.
She and her husband Eddie reside in Calhoun. When she’s not going the extra mile at Gordon Hospital, Bass said she enjoys traveling, riding her Harley, golfing when she gets to play, and spending time with her family and friends.
