Sleep apnea seminar to be held at Gordon Hospital

Did you know that more than 18 million American adults suffer from sleep apnea?

If left untreated, sleep apnea can result in a growing number of health problems, including high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, irregular heartbeats, heart attacks, diabetes, depression, worsening of ADHD, and headaches. It can also be responsible for poor performance in everyday activities, such as at work and school, motor vehicle crashes, and academic underachievement in students.

Gordon Hospital invites the community to a free Dinner with the Doctor Seminar. In honor of the Gordon Hospital Sleep Center’s 10 year anniversary, the featured topic will be on the health consequences of untreated sleep apnea.

The free seminar will be held Thursday, Nov. 19 beginning at 6 p.m. in Gordon Hospital’s Conference Room E. A free meal will be served, but reservations are required. To make your reservation, please call 706-602-7800, ext. 2318.

The program will be presented by Suzette Chin, MD, of Respiratory Consultants of Georgia. Following an informative presentation, Dr. Chin will also offer a question and answer session for the attendees.

"Even though sleep apnea is one of the most common sleep disorders, it often goes undiagnosed because of a lack of awareness of the condition," said Chin. "Anyone who is suffering or thinks they may be suffering from sleep apnea is encouraged to attend this free seminar."
